I fly a typhoon to rat in 00. It works, but its not near as good as the Tempest. Its also a joke in fleet bbattles as the missiles never reach. Needs focus.
Hammerhead already told us he intended to take a 2nd look at the guns. He only wanted to tweak them a bit, and it was a nice boost. Seems not enough though. He also stated guns must be balanced first without concern for what ship they are on. So at this point we may need better ship bonuses.
CCP has been reducing ROF for the last 6 months, so don't expect it to come back. if anything they will increase the damage mod on the artillery and decrease the ROF to give back same DOT...
We need to take up a collection to get CCP Hammer back on the case. isk talks. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Kaylana Syi, its fine that you are so leet with your mad phoon skills. But should it take that?
And can you flying a typhoon beat you flying an Armageddon dominix or scorpion, over the course of 10 fights without specialized fittings? ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Originally by: Kaylana Syi I will not give you my typhoon setup nor do I have backup claims that it exists. I am not the only matari pilot that has the damn ship and not the only one that can use it.
Of course no one expects you to give up your Typhoon setup. While other BS setups are a dime a dozen, a Typhoon setup is worth its weight in gold...
Originally by: Kaylana Syi If what you are telling me now is that a noobie with a typhoon is crap versus a noobie with a armageddon then abso'freaking'lutely something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. If you tell me a 5 million SP dedicated scorpion pilot is also better in a fleet than a 5 million sp phoon pilot dedicated to the defacto proj/drone/missile/speed setup that the setup calls for then I will be right there with you. Tell me that a typhoon is underclassed in drones and support compared to a similarly trained dominix then again... SURE. But a lowbie in a certain typhoon builds ( JUST AS OTHER SHIPS WITH OTHER CERTAIN BUILDS ) can be just as effective as anyone of those other ships and when you start pulling away into the higher SP bands the phoon begins to open up and shine. Emphasis on the effective... not once did I say it was unbeatable.
When a fitting is designed specifically to defeat another fitting, you have a specialized fitting. Now you know what I meant. Anyship can beat another with the right fitting. That does not make it balanced.
Given 10 solid fittings, selecting one randomly, in 10 fights, the phoon looses most of the time.
I fly a phoon daily. In all short range setups its damage is far inferior to Tempest. In long range its also inferior but not as much depending on range. Its tank is inferior. The Tempest does cost 20-30m more, so thats expected.
The Typhoon is a better frigate killer than most BS. Its not something you want to fight another PC-BS in. Get a Tempest. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

The idea that Minmatar are supposed to be inferior is silly. Any minmatar can fly any ship they want. So this violates your fantastic storyline contention.
If CCP intended to make minmatar _ships_ inferior I would have, along with many others, expected to see such a statement in the ships somewhere. My US Dollars are not inferior and I don't expect to get inferior product for my time.
I agree that many Minmatar ships are getting a boost. This is most often the general boost that most ships seem to be getting. It seems as if CCP balanced the core effects, but missed the side effects. Minmatar already below (in some places) required more boost. Then if you just boost all equal HPs, minmatar fall below because of the nature of the boosting.
What if CCP decided to cut all ships cap in 1/2. Or reduce HP. Or soften the falloff effect. Then you would see the other ships races calling for modification since this _universal_ change would be punishing them more.

This further stress the fact that the bonus it gets makes it a ranged ship and not a close range ship. A 10%/level falloff bonus (test typhoon in the graph below) would be better for a close range typhoon than an optimal range bonus: * Long Range. * Close Range. ...
A falloff bonus would benefit autocannons and artillery. Optimal only benefits artillery since autocannons have small optimal. The whole ship is close range and this bonus is long range.
I fly Typhoon because its cheaper and easier to get than a Vagabond or Muninn. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |
